Why make Art?

Why make art? why paint pictures, write, sculpt or hunch over a camera- or a computer- to create something that is finally labelled ART?

While sitting at a coffee shop the other day and viewing some paintings on display with my sister we pondered this very question.
The reasons that people put pen to paper, paint to canvas, image to page are obviously many. They range from pure ambition, competiton with oneself, a need to be seen and include identity searching, adventuring, joy, and "I simply have to"...

Pondering the image of these turkey feathers I took last Saturday has helped me pin down one of the reasons I take pictures.

Recording aspects of creation that are extrordinarily beautiful- isolating them visually so that they are not lost in the noise or distractions of the moment- slows me down and lets me truly stop to appreciate the fantastic and intelligent design that can be seen in all creation.

I become a part of it by seeing it, exploring it, and recording it.

Harmony, order, colour, texture, beauty, function, perfection, light and grace are a powerful message of Love in creation. Among the many laughing children, people, and animals at the animal sanctuary I found my focus and awe in one male turkey! Engaging nature in this way brings peace and promise into one's moments. Harmony and perfection are a perfect gift for anyone willing to accept this timeless gift of Soul- the inner and outer sight in alignment.

I simply love to SHARE these wonderful moments and also revisit them.

This is a powerful reason why I keep photographing the world around me and sharing them with YOU:)
