She has lived in urban and rural Ontario and in British Columbia, Canada.

Music and art combine as one creative expression for Kate. For generations poets, painters, photographers, craftsmen and writers have been a vital part of her family life.

She has also taught art to children in high school and offered summer art-camps at her home studio in collaboration with her artistic mother, Margery Gibson, while her own children were growing up.

Since 1997 the Celtic harp has been the main mode of this artist's artistic expression. At tis time she also began composing music, teaching both harp and recorder, and professional studio recording. Kate Gibson Oswald has one solo CD titled Musician’s Canvas and one self-titled CD with the trio-AnamCara. Musician’s Canvas is available through Watchfire Music, I-Tunes, CD Baby, and from Kate at

As a photographer Kate loves perfect light and exploring the art and eye of illusion. The unusual, the extraordinary, the dramatic, the beautiful… all attract the lens of her current camera. Over the years she has worked with a Canon AE, Mamiya C330 (2 1/4 portrait camera), numerous digital cameras- including a Panasonic FZ20 and more recently her trusty I-Phone and I-Pad HD/retina.

The majority of photos currently displayed are taken with an I-pad or I-phone. The immediacy and spontaneity of these images and their remarkable quality is being celebrated this year. Yea for Apple!

Kate will continue to post her most interesting, beautiful, artistic, captivating, unusual and unique images for viewers to enjoy, ponder, and hopefully feel compelled to purchase upon occasion.

Kate will also post short musings on art, light, and the art of creative expression on her Blog on this web-site now and again.
Art has a significant potential for expanding our understanding of the world and its diverse inhabitants.
